Terminal blocks are commonly used to transfer electricity through wires to like home multimedia players and surge protectors. In the US, most outlets use terminal blocks for earth ground connections, even for those that have "rear-wire" push-in connections, despite the difficulty of bending heavy-gauge solid copper around a screw with pliers.
